Jane Milas is
the Managing Director of Garcia & Milas. She received her A.B.
cum laude from Bryn Mawr College with departmental honors, and holds
two Masters Degrees from Northwestern University. She received
her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where
she was a member of the Connecticut Law Review and Moot Court Board.
Janes
construction law practice includes representation of general contractors,
major subcontractors, owners, sureties and design professionals
in connection with public and private vertical construction projects
and public infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges. Matters
handled include issues such as performance, payment, termination,
delay, design defects, acceleration, wage and hour claims, and labor
issues on the management side.
Ms. Milas advises
and represents commercial clients in real estate related transactions
and litigation, corporate formation, financing issues, contract
drafting, negotiation and interpretation, employment issues and product liability cases.
Her real estate
practice includes residential and commercial closings ranging in
complexity from simple residential purchases, sales, and refinances
to more involved commercial real estate sale, purchase or lease
transactions.

Jane Milas and
Fred Hedberg spoke on the topics of the Law of Engineering Malpractice
and Appearing as a Witness in a Civil Case at a recent seminar on
Legal Issues for Connecticut Professional Engineers.
Jane served as Moderator for a recent Connecticut Bar Association
seminar on current developments in Construction Law. Nicole Micklich
spoke at the seminar on developments in construction arbitration.
Jane was also a panelist at the May meeting of the Connecticut Chapter
of Professional Women in Construction. She spoke about current legislation
affecting the construction industry in Connecticut.
Ms. Milas has
served in leadership positions on a number of community boards including
the Women & Families Center (formerly the YWCA) of Meriden,
where she is a past president of the Board of Directors. In 2001
she was honored as the Centers Volunteer of the Year.
Ms. Milas was selected as a "2006 Connecticut Super Lawyer" by a survey of more than 13,000 lawyers across Connecticut as featured in Connecticut Magazine.
