Jane I. Milas (Retired)
Jane I. Milas is currently retired from Garcia & Milas. Ms. Milas’ construction law practice included representation of general contractors, major subcontractors, owners, sureties and design professionals in connection with public and private vertical construction projects and public infrastructure projects. She litigated construction cases in state and federal courts, before the Board of Contract Appeals, and in arbitration. Matters handled included issues relating to performance, payment, termination, delay, design defects, acceleration, bond claims, mechanic’s lien issues, wage and hour claims, and labor issues on the management side.
Ms. Milas advised and represented clients in general business and commercial matters and business torts, including real estate related transactions and litigation, breach of contract claims, claims under the uniform commercial code, corporate formation and financing issues, contract drafting, negotiation and interpretation, employment issues and product liability cases.
Her real estate practice included real estate related litigation including foreclosures, commercial and residential closings, lease transactions, summary process actions, and real estate development transactions.
Ms. Milas regularly counsels and represents employers with respect to employment issues including wage and hour laws, government contracting compliance issues, employment policies and manuals, employment discrimination issues and claims, equal employment opportunity laws and regulations, hiring and termination issues.
